Bhikkhu K. Nyanananda
...profound, comprehensive and enlightening.
no other series of Dhamma talks in Sri Lanka had (and still has) such an influence on Buddhists and Vipassana practioners as this series of over 30 Dhamma talks given by the Venerable Katukurunde Nyanananda, one of Sri Lankas most renowned Dhamma teachers.
Started back in the late 80es the series was held in Nissarana Vanaya, the "Monastery of the Forest of Liberation" under the auspicious of Sri Lankas most respected meditation master (and teacher of numerous contemporarian instructors) Venerable Matara Nyanarama (sometimes Gnanarama).
Sparked by the improper understanding of high ranking Buddhist monks on key Buddhist concepts and insights, the Venerable Nyanananda, with his unmatched knowledge of the Tipitaka (by heart) worked him and his audience through - as it seems - all dark, difficult and mysterious explanations of th Buddha and leaves only clarity, understanding and wisdom, showing a clear roadmap to what insight meditation is all about, what the Buddhas Dhamma is trying to archieve and how the goal itself, Nibbana, is to be properly understood.
We would like to add: even an Anagami could not explain it better :-)
The whole series of "Nibbana Sermons" (Sinhalese: Nivana Neveema) can be downloaded on www.beyondthenet.net. There is also a printed version as Dhamma Dana available now in Sri Lanka. On audio.nibbanam.com we uploaded some of the soundbites in Venerable Nyananandas own English translation.
If you happen to be in Sri Lanka don't miss the opportunity and visit this Venerable Sir challenging him with your most difficult questions. They will be answered in no time...or check out his older books ("Concept and Reality", "Magic of the mind").
